Always ready to travel, for the next five years Cathryn lived and worked in the Balkans where she was Director of Studies at a language school in Macedonia, South Eastern Europe. She managed the educational programmes and schedule delivery for staff and students at St. George’s School of English in Macedonia’s capital city, Skopje.
Returning to the UK in 2000, Cathryn accepted a post working with Bury Local Education Authority teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) for minority ethnic students in British Schools and working with mainstream teachers on educational strategy and effective classroom practice. Quickly becoming the Project Manager for a team of teachers across Bury High Schools, Cathryn then undertook a further Post Graduate Study at Masters Level in Bilingualism in Education at Birmingham University.
It was during her time as Project Manager for EAL delivery across Bury high schools that Cathryn first heard of The Scary Guy and invited him to deliver his programmes at the schools that she worked with.
On seeing and hearing the educational strategies and solutions that Scary presented, Cathryn described his work as a “missing piece in societies approach to teaching and learning”. In 2006 Scary invited Cathryn to work and travel with him to write and develop the curriculum based on the theories and concepts that he delivered. In her role as Director of Curriculum Development Worldwide, Cathryn is responsible for the writing of educational materials, all training materials and books that span all aspects of Scary’s programme delivery throughout his life.
